The Blogger Friend Forever Award

Both Angi and Kysha, almost within 24 hours of each other, gave me the Blogger Friend Forever Award.   Thanks so much!   Kysha said that I was a ‘teacher and preacher—she just doesn’t know it yet’ (that is scary, Kysha), and Angi stated that mine was a blog worth following.    You guys don’t know how much your words bless me.   Kysha’s chronicles of her family lend an old-time friend feel as I read her blog.   I can just see us in the kitchen laughing over a cup of coffee.    Angi’s blog is so inviting.  She is creative, takes great pictures and has a wealth of self-designed educational resources that I’ve at times referred others to in their plans to instill a CM-style home environment.   So, the fact that they thought enough of me to give me this award is very high praise.   Again, many thanks!

According to Angi’s blog, ‘This award is presented to awesome BLOG owners who keep their readers excited about their posts. Their blog posts are interesting (NOT spammy) and worth reading and keep their subscribers looking forward to each and every post.’   

I am not sure how many I need to limit this to, but I thought of some specific people who are making a difference on their blogs, at least in my life.   Of course, I could name any of the women who are my blogging friends; I’ve even gotten rid of my magazine subscriptions based upon the wisdom I get from you guys.   I will also attempt to bless some people that I haven’t listed as my personal award winners before.   Anyway, here goes:

1)      Halle at singergirl.   Halle is my daughter, but this is not just about a mom wanting to do something sweet for her child.   Halle’s blog is really blossoming into a ministry, and her diligence in posting and creating relationships with friends (not just posting fluff) is inspiring.   Also, I have to admit that I cringed initially at what she might write, but it’s been sometimes hilarious and always eye-opening seeing your child share her perspective on the world.

2)     Mel at 4realblessings.   I walked her through customizing the picture at the top of her blog, and now her photo makes me want to move to Canada!  Seriously, though, she and I connected in a new way over animals that we’ve lost, and I look forward to seeing her very reflective, though infrequent, posts.

3)     Jen at Angelswithapurpose.   Jen is such an encourager as a young woman.   Even when she’s feeling the pregnancy blahs, she still finds time to write and encourage.   When I was her age, I was classic Olympia Dukakis in Steel Magnolias: ‘If you can’t find something nice to say, come sit by me.’  Thank God for grace and mercy.

4)     Carol at Three Little Ladies.  I still remember the first time Carol stopped by the blog, saying that as we were both friends of lindafay’s, she wanted to see ‘who I was.’   They weren’t big words, but I felt a tremendous conviction to always be me in Blogland, and I think the “keep it real” feel is what, in part, draws consistent readers, and hopefully, leads them to be humble and honest with God.

5)     Angela at Fruitful Family.   Yin to my yang in keeping it real, Angela is so refreshingly candid about everything from growing up without a solid understanding of race and heritage, to being taken advantage of by her landlord, to segregation in the church.   She is another infrequent blogger, but with the number of kids she has, I’m impressed that she can blog at all!

As I stated, I could certainly name more ladies, but 2 entries in one day is a lot for me, and I’ve still got hair to wash, dinner to cook, and then it’s back to grading papers.   Hooray (read as Eeyore would say it—HA HA–how’s that for keepin’ it real?).   Seriously, God bless each of you.
