There is a reality of dancing at the college level. You are indeed, a student athlete, just with a different uniform and no cheerleaders to jump around when you reach your goal.
All the sweat equity, all the late nights and early mornings, and all the extra food fuel? They all become yours.
There are hours and hours of practice, in addition to class times.
There are weight-lifting periods, even if some look a bit different than others.
Finally, there is the performance. This year, he was both the villain and the prince of “Swan Lake,” among his other roles.
A tumultuous roller coaster of an existence, I imagine it can be. But what an exciting ride.
What wonderful pictures and accomplishments for your son. His poses are marvelous. My daughter is very interested in a career in dance. She loves it so much. She plans to take the level 4 Cecchetti ballet exam in the Spring. It is indeed and exciting ride.
Blessings, Dawn
With the younger two pursuing dance more seriously, I, too, have been educated in a whole new arena that I wasn’t previously exposed to, Dawn. I look forward to seeing your recital pictures this spring.
