Who’s pocket are we filling?

For those of you who will hit the stores for end-of-summer sales, here's a quote you might use to minister to your children about materialism, individuality and Godly stewardship.  I love these words from Author/ Radio Personality Tavis Smiley regarding many of our kids' obsession over name-brand clothing:   “Someone else's name on your back makes them rich.”

Is this what God wants me to do?

from our website, www.blessedheritage.com:     This is where many Christians begin.  I am of the opinion that the choice to educate our children at home is really taking back a God-given responsibility to teach our children in accordance with Deuteronomy 6.  The real questions, from my perspective, are:   1) Are you willing to […]

This Far by Faith, Volume 1 is completed!

I was so thrilled to submit the first copies to the printer today.  I am truly excited about this project.  I have heard (and I'm sure you have, too) that 'a nation that doesn't know its history is doomed to repeat it.'   I really believe that this tool will bring history to light in an […]

How’s your alignment?

Our pastor spoke on Sunday, Father’s Day, about “The Power of a Praying Father”, and I was so blessed.  I am writing in the hope that I can solicit a group that will cover fathers in prayer during these summer months as many families are preparing for the next school year.  My specific prayer is for fathers to receive, […]

Do you really need curriculum?

African-Americans represent the largest growing demographic in the homeschooling movement

My husband sent this article from BlackAmericaWeb.  It has great statistics on our numbers within the homeschooling community, a list of resources specific to African-Americans, and good "getting started" information.  Enjoy!   http://www.blackamericaweb.com/site.aspx/family/homeschool50106

What do you use to learn other periods of history?

The “Our History, HIS-Story” series and the upcoming “This Far by Faith” (ready in June 2006!) are designed to give students a Christian perspective, as well as a multicultural perspective, on American history.  I have been asked what types of products are available for studying other periods of history with the same perspective in mind.   One of […]

This is the time of year when many parents of all colors make a decision to educate their children at home.  This is the first of a series of posts designed to educate parents who are considering homeschooling, or are brand new homeschoolers, in some fundamentals of getting started.    Homeschooling, the practice by which […]
